What happens when you drop a file in

The selfie camera problem
Front-facing cameras show you a mirrored preview, because that is what people expect from a mirror. Some phones save the mirrored version, some save the true version, and there is no consistency between manufacturers.
The tell is text. If a logo on your shirt or a sign behind you reads backwards, the file was saved mirrored and a horizontal flip fixes it.
The same fix applies to screen recordings made through certain webcam software, which mirrors the feed before capture.
Horizontal is almost always the one you want
Vertical flipping turns the image upside down along with reversing it, which is rarely what anyone is after. If your footage is upside down, use the rotate tool at 180 degrees instead — it produces a correct image rather than a mirrored one.
If the footage is on its side rather than mirrored, use rotate video.

How do I tell if my video is mirrored?
Look for text in frame. If any writing reads backwards, it is mirrored.
Does flipping reduce quality?
Slightly, since the video is re-encoded. The loss is not visible in normal viewing.
Can I flip only part of the video?
No. The whole clip is processed.
Do my files get uploaded?
No, nothing leaves your device.
